A&A Printing versus Vanity Presses and P.O.D’S

I field phone calls every day from author’s that have been burned by the Vanity Presses and P.O.D printers out there. They have fallen for the false promises and been sucked in by the hopes of being told they will become a best selling author. Many of you have become skeptical about self-publishing because of this, which is easily understood. If these companies continue to not deliver on their promises and authors are not actually making any profits at all, I can certainly understand why. Vanity Presses and Pod’s are very good at one thing: Marketing. With their unlimited budgets and “boiler room tactics” as Dan Poynter would say, these salesmen can talk authors into anything. These packages they offer look good on paper and may seem like a good idea, but to quote the old slogan, “Where’s the beef?” I have yet to have an author call me and tell me that they were making tons of money with their P.O.D and were just “exploring their options.” Contrarily, these authors are making hardly anything and have become locked into a huge commitment. This commitment is basically purgatory where an author has committed a large sum of money for generally 1-5 books, placement on their website, and marketing help with a starter website hosted by them. What is the problem with this? Very easily put: Everything! Selling 1-5 books should not be very difficult, so why would you only want to buy 1-5 books in an expensive package? Book placement on their website seems exotic, but ask yourself this question: Do you buy books from these websites? Of course not, you buy your books from Amazon and the book store like everybody else, so why would you believe that anybody will find your book at some P.O.D website? Marketing they tell you will be the kicker. Wrong, their idea of marketing are business cards, fliers, posters, and some rehashed marketing list that they have used on every author before you and will use on every author after you. To make matters worse, if your book does succeed they own the ISBN and thus share in any success you have. This is on top of the 60% they are already slicing off the top for every book sale. So how are we different?

Well first and foremost we actually care. On top of that, we actually pick up the phone. I always thought this was just the way it was because I have always talked to customers on the phone and answered their questions, but apparently that is a luxury for these places. I have even been told that a few of these P.O.D’S will allow one phone conversation, but only if you choose their Platinum Package. We understand that you have questions and are making a financial commitment. I guarantee to answer ALL of your questions and fully help with the self-publishing process. Most importantly though, we are a company that can do everything for an author. You could call us a printer with publishing services, which is very rare. We offer cover design, marketing for selling your books, inside formatting, ISBN& Barcodes, E-Book creation, editing, proof reading, Web Site creation, Ghost Writing, Media Publicity and PR, and even help finding a literary agent. Not only are we competitive price wise on every one of these services, but they are performed only by the best that the industry has to offer. On top of our 30 years of award winning book printing, A&A Printing can not be beaten. Our approach is to do the exact opposite of what most companies are doing today in the industry. We will show you how to print as many books as you need and ways to sell them where you keep ALL the profits. No contracts, no nickel-and-dime tactics, no fine print, and certainly not any packages that will leave you broke. We can show you how to do it the right way and will be there to guide you. Let our one-stop-shop help you in your journey, we promise you won’t need to search anywhere else.
